🦷 Department & Services

The OMFS department serves as a surgical bridge between medicine and dentistry, handling cases such as facial trauma, orthognathic corrections, congenital defects, TMJ disorders, cyst and tumor removal, facial cosmetic procedures (e.g., cleft lip/palate repair), dental implants, and biopsies .


Educational Programs

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): A 5-year (4 + 1-year internship) course including a 1½-month rotation in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery .
MDS (Master of Dental Surgery – OMFS): A 3-year postgraduate specialization with 12 seats, focusing deeply on advanced surgical skills .

Faculty Leadership

The department is led by Dr. Ajay Kumar Haridas, a senior professor with 25 years of experience, numerous publications, and national/international recognition . The team also includes Prof. Dr. Paul, Dr. Jannya, and other specialists.

Career Outcomes & Scope

Graduates are trained to handle surgical extractions and minor surgeries in BDS adeptly. For MDS, they gain expertise to manage complex facial disorders, trauma cases, TMJ pathologies, orthognathic and cosmetic surgeries. The curriculum equips students with ethical, communicative, and medicolegal practice skills.
