The department of periodontology and implantology provides all round development. Through undergraduate and post graduate training in patient care and research. The department is well equipped with advanced instruments, good collection of back volumes of international and national journals and text books of national and foreign authors. There are separate clinical sections for undergraduate and post graduate students and individual cubicles for post graduates.
Post graduate students have an opportunity to learn and master variety of surgical procedures, training in dental implant placement and clinical exposure to use soft tissue lazer, Piezosurgery and Electrocautery in a specialty clinic attached to the department. The department also provides interdisciplinary case management and research facilities

Perform a comprehensive periodontal evaluation of all teeth and peri-implant tissues through intraoral examination and also detect non-periodontal oral diseases and conditions through intraoral and extraoral examination.
Gather clinical findings and establish a diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan.
Be proficient in patient education, training in oral hygiene, mitigation of risk factors, and managing periodontal systemic inter-relationships when appropriate.
Remove supra and sub gingival bacterial plaque/biofilm and calculus by comprehensive, meticulous periodontal scaling and root planing
Be able to perform resective procedures to reduce or eliminate periodontal pockets and create an acceptable gingival form that facilitates oral hygiene and periodontal maintenance.
Have a working knowledge of periodontal regenerative procedures, periodontal plastic surgery procedures, occlusal therapy, pre-prosthetic periodontal surgery, surgical treatment with dental implants, selective extraction of teeth, and procedures to facilitate orthodontic treatment.
