Microbiology

The department of Microbiology was established in the year 2007. The department offers detailed study on the medical subjects of Microbiology including, Bacteriology, Immunology, Mycology, Virology & Parasitology for second year BDS students. 

Students can acquire immense knowledge about various microbiological techniques and its application in the field of dentistry. The department helps them to aware about various kinds of infections in human beings- their etiological agents, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis. 

We also provide training to perform basic microbiological techniques like, Gram’s staining, Acid fast staining, Albert’s staining, and make them capable enough to perform standard aseptic measures in dental clinics.

Programmes Offered

Educare Institute of Dental Sciences offers a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree programme in Dental Surgery. The Department of Microbiology provides detailed lectures for second year BDS and first year MDS students during their corresponding academic year.

To make students aware of various branches of microbiology and the role of microbes in human diseases relevant to dentistry. It will give a strong basic knowledge in theory and practical to the under graduate and post graduate students.

Mission

To impact quality education in Microbiology to undergraduate Second year BDS and First year post graduate MDS students by means of theory, practical/laboratory based classes which enable students to understand various kinds of microorganisms which are important in the field of dentistry. And also assisting in Research projects and Thesis of MDS students. To carry out evidence-based teaching to promote academic excellence, to motivate interest in research activities, further education and social services.

Course Outcome

The implementation of the curriculum for BDS and MDS programs are carried out through proper planning by following the academic calendar in terms of time tables, conduct of internal examinations and practical classes. The outcome of each course is reflected at the end of the year.
