Vision

To replace what is missing and to preserve what is remaining.
The Department of Prosthodontics & Crown and Bridge at EIDS deals with the restoration of natural teeth, replacement of missing teeth and contiguous maxillofacial tissues with artificial substitutes by fabricating complete and removable partial dentures, crowns, fixed dental prosthesis, laminate/veneers, inlays, post endodontic restorations, maxillofacial prosthesis and implants. The teaching program prepares the under graduate and post-graduate students for successful careers in a global society. This specialty improves the health of the community and the world by setting the standard of excellence in dental education, research and clinical care.

Mission

Provide the best quality prosthetic care to limit the disability and to rehabilitate the functional and esthetic needs of the population.
The aim of Prosthodontic curriculum is to enable students to manage prosthodontic patients with minimal supervision. As such, students are expected to develop the necessary core skills for gathering diagnostic information, developing a sequential treatment plan, and performing basic prosthodontic procedures by using sound clinical judgments. The Prosthodontics curriculum is organized to provide an overview of Removable Prosthodontics (complete and partially edentulous patients) and Fixed Prosthodontics. Each lecture will be structured to provide a review of the basic fundamentals of the lecture topic, a discussion of the application of these fundamentals to patient treatment, and an update on the latest technological advances/treatment modalities.

We have an active undergraduate and robust postgraduate programme and also the latest of treatment protocols, the details are mentioned below.

  • We have an active ongoing MOU with USM MALAYSIA which includes a very successful implantology programme which caters to our postgraduates and interested dentists. Another project in the pipeline is an observatory exchange programme with the above mentioned university for maxillofacial prosthesis.
  • The in house prosthodontics DENTAL LAB in EIDS caters to the needs of the prosthodontics department. The lab undertakes the fabrication of the prosthesis utilising the most advanced digital technology. Digitization of the lab has benefited our students in this era of dentistry .
  • Spacious infrastructure with individualized cubicles for postgraduates.
  • We provide the latest in implant treatment modalities in collaboration with the department of oral surgery which includes direct and indirect sinuslifts, full mouth implant rehabilitation, guided implant surgeries, ridge split procedures and piezo driven implant surgeries.
  • We have community outreach programmes which also includes the flagship “MANDHAHASAM” project of the state government of which we are the proud service providers in the district of Malappuram.
  • We regularly conduct CDE programmes and workshops for the skill upgradation of our postgraduates and local dental practitioners.
