Periodontology and Implantology

The Department of Periodontology and Implantology offers comprehensive development through undergraduate and postgraduate training in patient care and research. It is well-equipped with advanced instruments, an extensive collection of international and national journal back volumes, and textbooks by both national and international authors. The department features separate clinical sections for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as individual cubicles for postgraduates.

Postgraduate students have the opportunity to learn and master a variety of surgical procedures, receive training in dental implant placement, and gain clinical exposure to the use of soft tissue lasers, piezo surgery, and electrocautery in a specialized clinic affiliated with the department. Additionally, the department provides interdisciplinary case management and research facilities.

Dr. Sreekanth Puthalath

PROFESSOR & HOD

DR. Sreekanth Puthalath graduated from JSS Dental college, Mysore,Karnataka in 2004, and obtained his MDS in Periodontology from Vinayak Mission, Tamil Nadu in 2010. With expertise as a Periodontist, Specializing in Dental Laser procedures and Implantology, He brings over 15 years of combined experience in academic and clinical settings.

Course Outcome

Upon course completion, undergraduates can conduct thorough periodontal evaluations, diagnose and plan treatments, educate on oral hygiene, perform scaling and root planing, and manage periodontal health. Postgraduates excel in all periodontal and implant procedures, including complex surgeries, occlusal therapy, and utilize advanced treatment modalities for comprehensive care.
